Wolves at the Gate release their Solid State Records debut on July 3

Ohio-based Christian hardcore lads Wolves at the Gate release their Solid State Records debut, “Captors,” on July 3, and the band premiered a new track off the upcoming release this week. Check out the intense nugget, called “Slaves,” via the band’s official Facebook page.

Guitarist and vocalist Stephen Cobucci says “Slaves” is one of the more “unique tracks” on “Captors.” For one, the song features guest vocals from Shane Blay of fellow Christian metal band Oh, Sleeper. Secondly, Cobucci says “Slaves” — which is based on the Biblical verses Romans 6:16 & 22 — gets to the core of Wolves at the Gate.

“I think it does an excellent job of displaying the personality of the band, both musically and personally,” he said in an official statement.

“Musically, the goal was to sonically mirror the lyrical progression of the song, whose concept stems from Romans 6:16 & 22, which talks about being slaves to sin or slaves to righteousness,” Cobucci added. “Our hope is that regardless of what the listener believe, who they are, and where they come from that they’ll be able to relate to the character to some extent and see the joy in committing your life to loving and serving Jesus.”

“Captors” was produced by Andreas Magnussen (Oh, Sleeper, Haste the Day) and is the follow-up to the band’s self-released 2011 EP, “We Are the Ones.” Watch the just-released music video for the track “Dead Man” off the release here. (Courtesy photo.)
