Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell Pulls Out of Made in America Festival
Chris Cornell won’t be appearing at the Made in America festival this weekend, but he will be at an Obama rally
Chris Cornell fans who were hoping to catch the grunge singer at this weekend’s Made in America festival in Philadelphia should note that Cornell has pulled out of the event. While the news broke just this week, it turns out the Soundgarden singer meant to make the announcement a few weeks ago, so fans wouldn’t be stuck with tickets they didn’t want.
On Wednesday (Aug. 29), a note was posted on Cornell’s official website announcing that Cornell had dropped off the bill at the event. “Unfortunately, due to a scheduling conflict Chris Cornell is unable to perform at the Made in America festival in Philadelphia on September 2 as previously planned,” the note stated. “Apologies for any inconvenience or disappointment.”
Although the news came as a big surprise to Cornell’s fans, it was even a bigger shock to the Soundgarden main man himself, as he says that he actually pulled out of the lineup weeks ago. “Woke up to learn some people f**ked up,” Cornell stated on his Facebook page. “I pulled out of the MIA Festival 2 weeks ago. I apologize to my fans that you were not told and bought tix. I will find a resolution and get back to u.” It’s an honest mistake, Cornell. Don’t sweat it.
It appears the conflict involved double booking. In place of performing at the Made in America festival on Sunday (Sept. 2), Cornell will be playing at a campaign rally for President Obama in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday (Sept. 1).
