Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello to Tour with Springsteen
Tom Morello will fill in for Bruce Springsteen guitarist Stevie Van Zandt on tour this spring
Tom Morello may not be touring with his band Rage Against the Machine this year, but the guitarist will keep plenty busy making the rounds with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band for the band’s Australian tour this March. Morello has accepted an offer to fill in for E Street guitarist Stevie Van Zandt, allowing Zandt to wrap up filming the season two of his television show, “Lilyhammer.” Morello is scheduled to take the stage with the E Street Band for nine shows, and Van Zandt will rejoin the tour in Oslo, Norway, on April 29.
Morello is hardly a newbie when it comes to playing with Springsteen and the E Street Band. The guitarist collaborated with Springsteen and the group on “Jack of All Trades” and “This Depression” off their latest album, “Wrecking Ball.” He also appeared with the band at the Anaheim Pond in 2008 and the 25th Anniversary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Concert at Madison Square Garden the following year.
In other Springsteen-Morello news, Morello along with many other musicians will honor Springsteen at the MusiCares gala in Los Angeles on Feb. 8. Others slated to attend or participated include Neil Young, Patti Smith, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, Mumford & Sons and Alabama Shakes, among others.
