AFI Announce New Album ‘Burials,’ Fall North American Tour

Story by Anne Erickson
AFI’s new album, ‘Burials,’ is due out Oct. 22
AFI recently unleashed their new single, a goth-laced rock anthem called “I Hope You Suffer,” and now, the band is ready to let fans know all about their upcoming full-length album. AFI’s ninth studio release, “Burials,” will arrive on Oct. 22 via Republic Records.
“This record is of silence, of burials, and the burials that result from that silence,” frontman Davey Havok said of the release in a statement. “It’s of betrayal, cruelty, weakness, anxiety, panic — deep and slow — despair, injury and loss. And in this it is shamefully honest and resolutely unforgiving.”
AFI — including Havok, guitarist Jade Puget, drummer Adam Carson and bass player Hunter Burgan — have also announced a nice-sized fall North American tour in support of the upcoming album. The run will kick off Sept. 12 at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis and close out Nov. 2 at Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, British Columbia. View the band’s full tour roster below.
As for the credits on “Burials,” the album was produced by Gil Norton (Pixies, Echo & the Bunnymen, Foo Fighters) and mixed by Andrew Scheps (Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Adele).
