Animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have a long history of working with famed musicians, and now, Weezer bass player Scott Shriner can be added to the list. Shriner appears in a new campaign for peta2, PETA’s youth division. The ad stars Shriner and his two adopted Carin terriers, Calvin and Peanut, and is all about loving dogs.

“I guarantee you there’s a dog that you’re looking for out there that needs a home already,” Shriner says in the clip. “My wife’s adopted, my son’s adopted, the dogs are adopted — and we made this amazing family.”

So, who do Shriner’s dogs compare to Weezer songs? In the video, Shriner describes Calvin as tough, like the guitar work in “Hash Pipe,” and Peanut as the track “Tragic Girl.”

Other artists who have appeared in PETA campaigns include Paul McCartney, the Black Keys, Rise Against, Fall Out Boy, Iggy Pop, Trent Reznor, Smashing Pumpkins, Eddie Vedder, Dave Navarro, Morrissey and more.
