Chris Cornell’s Social Accounts Honor Late Singer
Chris Cornell is being honored by his bands on social media
Fans and family aren’t the only ones mourning the loss of legendary vocalist Chris Cornell. Cornell’s many bands – Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog – as well as his personal social accounts first went black to mourn the loss.
Then, most recently, changed their banners to feature a black-and-white photo of Cornell with the heartfelt words, “The voice of a generation, an artist for all time.”
Cornell passed away on May 17 at the age of 52. His catalog included timeless rock songs such as “Black Hole Sun,” “Spoonman,” “The Day I Tried to Live,” “Show Me How to Live,” “Blow Up the Outside World” and many more. Cornell’s widow, Vicky, has stated she thinks that prescription anti-anxiety medication may have had something to do with his death, which was ruled a suicide by hanging.
Cornell’s widow also recently stated that she and her family are “mystified” over his death. Her lawyer states they’ve asked for more details from the Detroit coroner’s office using freedom of information channels, but their application was apparently denied the police investigation has not been completed.
In a statement, Kirk Pasich said, “Based on information provided by personally from the City of Detroit Police Department Homicide Section, it is our understanding that this matter is an open investigation.”
“As such, they believe the the release of any information at this time would compromise and/or interfere with their investigation,” the statement continued. “The family remains mystified that the medical examiner announced a cause of death when the full autopsy report has not been completed.”
Vicky also stated, “We are grateful for the outpouring of support as we mourn Chris’ passing. But we still have several unanswered questions about what led to his death. We believe the toxicology report will answer these questions.”
