Sammy Hagar and The Circle Thank Frontline Workers in New Music Video
Frontline and essential workers get the spotlight in new video from Sammy Hagar and The Circle
Sammy Hagar and his band The Circle have debuted a new music video for their cover of the popular David Bowie track “Heroes,” which appears on the band’s latest album, “Lockdown 2020.” The video features footage of Hagar and his Circle band mates rocking out individually, with the remote clips spliced together into the front page of an interactive newspaper called “The Lockdown Times,” which honors frontline workers who are the heroes of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. “Recording the song and creating the music video for ‘Heroes’ gave us a chance to tip our hats to all the Frontline workers on every level our of communities,” Hagar — who heads up the band with Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham and guitarist Vic Johnson — said in a statement.
Hagar continued by thanking the frontline and essential workers for their efforts, stating, “From the doctors and medical workers, to the grocery stores, police, firefighters, scientists, and more who’ve put their own lives on the line to do their jobs and help others. For us, their contributions kind of sum up the best of 2020.”
The song and full “Lockdown 2020” album are currently available for streaming and download. Hagar and The Circle are also donating all funds raised from “Heroes” to food banks and relief efforts throughout the U.S., helping those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Lockdown 2020” features songs performed during Hagar and The Circle’s series of “Lockdown @Home Sessions” videos, which the group has been posting on Hagar’s YouTube channel since March 2020. Other songs that appear on “Lockdown 2020” include covers of tracks by The Who, Bob Marley, AC/DC, Buffalo Springfield, Little Richard, Van Halen and Hagar’s solo band, The Wabos. “Lockdown 2020” also includes a new, original song named “Funky Feng Shui.”
