It takes a lot to be a breakout artist in 2022. The music market is saturated. Thousands of new songs get uploaded to Spotify each day, and it’s more difficult than ever for newer artists to get a voice.

Bad Omens have cut through the static. The American metal-core band – which brings together charismatic vocalist Noah Sebastian with guitarist Joakim “Jolly” Karlsson, bass player Nick Ruffilo and drummer Nick Folio – released their third full-length album this year in the epic, “The Death of Peace of Mind” via Sumerian Records.

“The Death of Peace of Mind” is simply one of the most imaginative records of the year. It brings huge, catchy hooks, haunting atmospheres and soothing, eerie harmonies.

Bad Omens got their start in 2016, releasing their self-titled debut. The set drew attention from music fans around the globe with songs such as “Glass Houses” and “The Worst In Me,” yielding nearly 25 million Spotify streams. Next, the band released their follow-up record, 2019’s “Finding God Before God Finds Me.” That set scored them some top streaming singles in “Dethrone” and “Careful What You Wish For.”

Things were going well, and then, the pandemic hit. The group was forced to cancel their first headlining tour and ended up back in Los Angeles. So, what’s a band to do? The guys starting writing and recording what would make up “The Death of Peace of Mind.” Sebastian and Jolly wrote, produced and engineered the entire new record before handing it off to Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter Zakk Cervini to mix and master it.

This wasn’t your average recoding session. It was very experimental. Sebastian actually made a track sampling items around the house, not even with musical instruments,” and that song became the framework for the album’s first single and title track, “The Death of Peace of Mind.” Listening to the song, you can almost feel the heartache in Sebastian’s voice as he sings. As Sebastian explains in a statement, this record truly “details the loss of peace of mind.”

With a hypnotizing new album in hand and a North American tour that the band will wrap up in December, Bad Omens is Audio Ink Radio’s breakout artist of 2022. We suggest getting them on your radar before these guys become a household name in the rock and metal sphere. Find Bad Omens online here.
