Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, Josh Groban Appear in New Tenacious D Video
Tenacious D’s latest video features big-named guests
Tenacious D, the hilarious pair of actor and rocker Jack Black and Kyle Gass, have unleashed a short video to promote their third studio album, “Rize of the Fenix.” The video, called “To Be the Best,” offers six minutes of knee-slapping behind-the-scenes footage of the band as they join up after years apart to record their upcoming album. Watch the fun-filled clip at the end of the post.
The video basically tells the tale of the forgotten years of Tenacious D. Following a nervous breakdown, Gass found himself locked away, until finally escaping with the hope of finding with his former bandmate, Black, now known as “Hollywood Jack.” “To Be the Best” tells the story of Tenacious D’s triumphant climb back to rock stardom.
In Tenacious D tradition, the video packs some cameos from some of their famous buddies. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, singer Josh Groban and actors Val Kilmer and Tim Robbins all make appearances. We know what you’re thinking: Josh Groban in a Tenacious D video? Apparently, the classical singer is friends with the D camp.
“Rize of the Fenix” reaches stores and online on May 15, and following the release, the guys will embark on a North American tour to promote the release. The trek sets off May 23 at the Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara, Calif., and follows through July 29 in San Diego, Calif., for a total of 21 stops in North America and beyond. “Rize of the Fenix” is currently available for pre-order via iTunes and Amazon.
