Dave Grohl Announces ‘Sound City’ Release Date
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl will release his ‘Sound City’ documentary in February
It’s been a big month for Dave Grohl. First, the Foo Fighters frontman announced that his upcoming documentary, “Sound City,” will debut at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013. Then, he released the official trailer for the flick. Now, Grohl has revealed the official release date for “Sound City,” taking to his Facebook page to broadcast the news that that the movie will be available beginning Feb. 1.
“Sound City” chronicles the legacy of the famed Sound City Studios in California, where Grohl and grunge legends Nirvana recorded their 1991 sophomore breakout album, “Nevermind.” The film offers interviews and performances from musicians who have laid down tape at Sound City, including Queens of the Stone Age singer and guitarist Joshua Homme, Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, Slipknot and Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor, producer Butch Vig, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich and more.
Fans are able to pre-order “Sound City” right now at the movie’s official website, and those who opt to purchase the film now will get it for a “special price” of $10. The site also offers a spot to sign up to receive information on upcoming theatrical screenings of the documentary.
