Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl Unleashes Official ‘Sound City’ Trailer

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has teased fans for months with online snippets and outtakes from his upcoming documentary, “Sound City.” Now, the famed grunge musician has released the official trailer for the movie, which chronicles the rich history of the beloved Sound City Studios in California, where Nirvana famously recorded their pioneering sophomore album, 1991’s “Nevermind,” and the breakout single “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Watch the full trailer below.
The two-minute “Sound City” trailer features clips of interviews from a several musicians who recorded at Sound City Studios, spanning several genres, including Nine Inch Nails singer Trent Reznor, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, Stone Sour and Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor, ex-Nirvana bass player Krist Novoselic and “Nevermind” producer Butch Vig.
“Sound City” still doesn’t have an official release date, but the film will enjoy a premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, which is slated to happen Jan. 17 through 27 in Salt Lake City, Park City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.
