Foo Fighters have revealed that their eighth studio album will arrive in November

Foo Fighters have confirmed their upcoming, eighth studio album will arrive in November. In addition to the news of a November release, Foo Fighters treated fans to a trailer unveiling the name of the band’s upcoming HBO series during the network’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame highlights special.

Foo Fighters’ documentary series will be called “Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways” and tell the tale of frontman Dave Grohl and company traveling to eight different cities and studios to record the new album and learn about the story behind the musical destinations. The grunge band’s recording trip took them to Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Seattle and Washington, D.C.

“I’ve pulled up the family tree of American music and explored its roots to find inspiration for the next Foo Fighters album,” Grohl said in a statement.

So, what should fans expect from the new album from the Foos? According to Grohl, the new tunes mark “a progression or an evolution, for sure, but it’s a Foo Fighters record.” He says what not to expect is “a crazy, bleak Radiohead record.”

‘Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways’ is expected to premiere this fall on HBO on the eve of the band’s 20th anniversary.
