Weezer will release ‘The White Album’ on April 1 and tour this spring

Not that it’s a major surprise, but Weezer’s upcoming album is being called “The White Album.” The band has dropped the news that their follow-up to their 2014 release “Everything Will Be Alright in the End,” will arrive on April 1.

“The White Album” is actually titled “Weezer.” If you’re a Beatles fan, you may recall they also have a self-titled album referred to as “The White Album.” Weezer gave fans a big hint of their new album title last week, when they changed their website and social media profile photos to plank white pictures. Now, both feature the album cover.

Weezer, of course, have often named their albums after colors. Their first was 1994’s “The Blue Album,” followed by 2001’s “The Green Album” and 2008’s “The Red Album.” Why mess with what works?

The guys are gunning to release a new single from the album, called “King of the World,” is currently streaming on YouTube.  The album is available for pre-order online and via the group’s website.

In other news, Weezer have already plotted out a lengthy North American tour behind the new tunes, which encompasses 45 stops. The guys will also perform in the U.K. and the Netherlands this year. Some of the upcoming shows will feature Panic! At the Disco on the bill.

For the full list of tour dates and ticket information, head to Weezer’s website.
