Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Anthony Kiedis Takes Son on Tour
Red Hot Chili Peppers singer: Being a dad is the greatest thing
The Red Hot Chili Peppers have reclaimed their spot as kingpins of alternative music with the band’s smash album, I’m With You, and frontman Anthony Kiedis is having the time of his life. Even more than selling loads of albums and climbing the charts with “The Adventures of Raindance Maggie,” Kiedis says he’s enjoying being a dad and all the fun and adventure that goes with parenthood.
“It’s been a good few years,” Kiedis told the Mirror. “The greatest thing for me was becoming a dad and the really good fortune of not having to work or go on the road for the first two years of my son’s life. I recently moved to the seashore and having this little person in my arms walking through the sand dunes looking at the ocean was just what the doctor ordered. It was a reawakening for me in terms of being an elated human being.”
Kiedis even says his son is on tour with the Peppers. For now. “Everly is with me in London,” he said. “It’s an experimental run. I would love to have him on tour with me for the next couple of years.” He added that being clean and sober, which he has for the past 11 years, is crucial to good parenting. “I wouldn’t have been a dad if I wasn’t sober. It is what led me to fatherhood,” he very honestly proclaimed. It’s kind of what led me to most of the great success in my life. It allows me to do my best at everything.” (Red Hot Chili Peppers photo by Ellen Von Unwerth, via Facebook.)
