Dave Grohl Releases ‘Sound City’ Documentary Trailer
Watch the trailer for Dave Grohl’s documentary about the studio where ‘Nevermind’ was recorded
Always-fruitful Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has teased fans for weeks about his upcoming documentary on Sound City Studios, and this weekend, Grohl released the official trailer for the flick. Watch the star-packed trailer at the end of the page.
Grohl has kept busy over the past few months putting together the film, which pays respect to the studio complex where many timeless albums were recorded, including Nirvana’s sophomore concoction “Nevermind,” Rage Against the Machine’s self-titled release, Neil Young’s “After the Gold Rush,” Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumors” and many more.
To help with the film, Grohl grabbed a slew of A-list music players to put their personal stamps on the project, such as Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme (who also plays with Grohl in supergroup Them Crooked Vultures), Nine Inch Nails main man Trent Reznor, Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor, Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic, Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks, Rick Springfield and more. Others mentioned in the trailer’s credits include Nirvana and Foo Fighters producer Butch Vig, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, Alice in Chains producer Nick Raskulinecz, Metallica’s Lars Ulrich and many others.
No release date has been set yet for the film, but knowing Grohl, he won’t be able to keep this under his hat for long. Regardless if the film hits theaters or goes straight to DVD, this trailer leaves us wanting Grohl to take us inside the studios behind “Nevermind” and see how the magic happened.
In Foo Fighters news, Grohl and his grunge rock crew scored five trophies at the 54th annual Grammy Awards Sunday (Feb. 12), including the coveted Best Rock Performance for their single “Walk.”
