Frances Bean Cobain Says Her Relationship with Dave Grohl is Platonic
Frances Bean Cobain responds to Courtney Love’s recent Twitter rant
Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, has issued an official statement regarding the recent actions of her mother, Hole singer Courtney Love, who accused Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl of hitting on and going home with her 19-year-old daughter. Love made the accusations using her private Twitter account, @cbabymichelle, earlier this week.
Here’s Cobain’s statement: “While I’m generally silent on the affairs of my biological mother, her recent tirade has taken a gross turn. I have never been approached by Dave Grohl in more than a platonic way. I’m in a monogamous relationship and very happy. Twitter should ban my mother.”
Grohl also shot down Love’s accusations of his alleged improper relationship with Cobain, saying the claims are absolutely, 100% fabricated. “Unfortunately Courtney is on another hateful Twitter rant,” he said in a statement issued yesterday. “These new accusations are upsetting, offensive and absolutely untrue.”
Regardless, Love told the New York Daily News on Wednesday (April 11) that she was “not going to retract anything.” Love has an old beef with Grohl, whom she has accused of wasting Nirvana’s fortune and capitalizing on Kurt Cobain’s coattails. Grohl, of course, has enjoyed heaps of success after Nirvana with his post-grunge band Foo Fighters, who hold several Grammy Awards, have played sold-out arena shows and hold other honors. Foo Fighters’ latest album, “Wasting Light,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart last year.
