Gwen Stefani of No Doubt says she feels at home back in No Doubt

No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani is back with No Doubt, and the group has a new album out, “Push and Shove,” and a North American tour set for next year, to boot. While No Doubt was taking time off, Stefani launched a solo career, which ended up being quite successful, garnering Grammy nominations and chart-topping hits such as “The Sweet Escape” and “Hokkaback Girl.” Regardless, the singer says No Doubt will always have her heart.

“I feel like we’ve always been in our own little lane. Never fitting in…and it’s the same now,” Stefani said of No Doubt, speaking with Vogue magazine. “I did the solo thing, but I felt like I was trying to play a character in a way, this Alice in Wonderland pretend version of myself.  But this, being in No Doubt, is really who I am.”

Stefani added that her solo career came at a difficult time, since everything happened when she was first pregnant. “I did my first solo record and went on tour while I was pregnant…It was torture,” she said. “I toured until I was four and a half months pregnant, showing. I came home and had Kingston, and when he was eight months old, I went back on the road…so I would literally do my hair and makeup, go back to the bus, nurse him, put him down, and walk out onstage. And I did that for 100 shows.”
