Flyleaf Announce Reunion with Original Singer Lacey Sturm
Flyleaf will appear with original vocalist Lacey Sturm at the inaugural Sick New World festival in Las Vegas
Flyleaf have announced that they’re reuniting with original singer Lacey Sturm. The group initially updated their social media with an image titled “Flyleaf with Lacey Sturm” along with the caption, “Arise and be all that you dream.” The post got fans questioning whether or not a reunion was really on the way. Then, the news was confirmed
when the lineup for the debut Sick New World festival in Las Vegas was announced earlier today (Nov. 7).
Sturm was a founding member of Flyleaf and was with the band from 2002 through 2012. She has two major hits with Flyleaf in “All Around Me” and “I’m So Sick.” Sturm also performed on three of the band’s full-length records, including their 2005 self-titled debut.
When Sturm left the band, Kirsten May took over as vocalist. May appeared on 2014’s “Between the Stars.” The band announced a hiatus in 2016, and May left the band at that point, too. View Flyleaf’s Twitter post regarding the reunion below.
As for the Sick New World festival, the event is slated to also bring performances from System of a Down, Deftones, Korn, Incubus, Evanescence, Turnstile, Mr. Bungle, The Sisters of Mercy, Papa Roach, Death Grips, Ministry, Melvins, Killing Joke, She Wants Revenge, Body Count, Placebo, Skinny Puppy, Sevendust and more. The festival is being presented by the same promoter as When We Were Young, and the lineup features plenty of names that were huge in mainstream rock radio in the late-’90s and early 2000s, as well as some newer bands and longstanding metal groups.
Tickets to the festival go on sale this Friday (Nov. 11) via the festival’s website. The event is slated for May 13 at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds. View the full lineup here.
