Brian ‘Head’ Welch, Former Evanescence Drummer Rocky Gray to Appear on Project 86 Album
Project 86’s new album to feature a variety of Christian rock musicians
Christian hard rockers Project 86 are back with their new album, “Wait for the Siren,” set to arrive Aug. 21. The disc is the follow-up to Project 86’s 2009 album, “Picket Fence Cartel.” In honor of the release, the band are offering a free MP3 download of their first single from the album, “Fall, Goliath, Fall,” for a limited time via their just-launched new website at Project86.com.
Frontman Andrew Schwab says the new album is vastly different from past Project 86 efforts. “For those who are acquainted with the band, or our previous work, the sound of this incarnation of P86 will be bit shocking, but in the best possible way,” Schwab said. “We captured the spirit that attracted people to our band long ago, with a whole new approach to the sonics.”
Schwab, who was the primary songwriter and co-producer of the album, tapped plenty of big names to help with the release, to boot. Musicians who lend their talents to “Wait for the Siren” include Rocky Gray (ex-Evanescence), Andrew Welch (Disciple), Blake Martin (A Plea for Purging), Cody Driggers (The Wedding), Bruce Fitzhugh (Living Sacrifice) and Brian “Head” Welch (Korn, Love and Death).
“Part of the ‘getting back to roots’ theme on this record is the journey of self-discovery I embarked on while writing this record,” Schwab added. “I had to do some detective work, but I unearthed some secrets about my past. One of these secrets is that I have Irish ancestors who fought and died in the civil war as a part of the Irish Brigade. This inspired some of the military themes and Celtic instrumentation on the record, which added a new level of epic emotion on some of the songs.”
