Record Store Day 2013 will bring a reissue from blues-rock duo the White Stripes

Record Store Day 2013 is fast approaching, as the annual event happens on April 20 this year. Record Store Day is a day set aside to support local, independently-owned brick-and-mortar stores and the pristine vinyl of yesteryear. A bevy of artists put together exclusive releases just for the April holiday, and the White Stripes is one of them.

The White Stripes – who, of course, are no longer together, but able to scrape together occasional collectors’ sets – will release a reissue in honor of the 10th anniversary edition of their fourth studio album, “Elephant.” A post on frontman Jack White‘s Third Man Records website states the double LP will offer one album on split-color black and red vinyl, while the second will arrive on white vinyl.

In other White Stripes-related news, White was recently tapped to serve as the official 2013 Record Store Day ambassador. It’s a prestigious title, as former ambassadors have included Iggy Pop, Ozzy Osbourne, Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme. For more on Record Store Day, which is in its sixth year, including where to find a participating store near you, head to the event’s official website.
