Muse Frontman Matthew Bellamy Discusses New Music
Muse’s Matthew Bellamy says the band plans to record new music sometime next year
Muse are currently on tour in support of their latest studio release, 2012’s “The 2nd Law,” and although the guys have been extremely busy on the road, frontman Matt Bellamy says new music is on their minds. In fact, Bellamy says the band has plans to start writing new music next year.
“Early next year I think we’ll probably take a break for a few months and at some point next year we’ll start writing new music,” Bellamy told Billboard. “I think if everyone is up for it, we’ll start recording music sometime next year.”
In other band news, Muse will release their debut concert film, which was filmed in 4K ultra-high-definition, later this month in theaters around the world. The movie, named “Muse — Live at Rome Olympic Stadium,” chronicles the alternative rock group’s gig last July at the Olympic Stadium in Rome. Singer and guitarist Matt Bellamy says the film’s quality is good—almost too good.
“It’s so much more noticeably sharper that it’s almost unsettling at first,” Bellamy said. “You see the sort of big panning [shot] across the audience and your eyes are drawn to the details of so many people’s heads and what they’re wearing.”
Advance screenings of “Muse — Live at Rome Olympic Stadium” will debut in 20 select cities on Nov. 5, with the film hitting theaters around the world on Nov. 6. To view the full list of screenings, head to the film’s official website.
