Pearl Jam release vinyl package just in time for the holidays

Christmas shopping is almost a wrap, and those who still have a grunge-minded music friend on their Christmas list may want to check out the just-released vinyl version of the Pearl Jam Twenty soundtrack. The Eddie Vedder-fronted rock band, of course, rose up from the remains of former Seattle group Mother Love Bone to become one of the biggest wonders of the grunge rock movement.

Now, the soundtrack to the band’s Cameron Crowe-directed documentary, Pearl Jam Twenty, is available on collectors-worthy, limited-edition triple 180-gram vinyl, pressed at RTI. The package — which dropped Tuesday (Dec. 13) — arrives with a 20-page, full-color 12″ x 12″ booklet featuring a special introduction by director Cameron Crowe. Adding to the movie fanfare, each LP is contained in a full-color inside sleeve with stills from the film. The jacket also packs hundreds of nostalgic images taken throughout the group’s career.

Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready recently offered up the exciting news that the guys are shooting to drop their latest LP in spring of 2012. He told Gazetadopvo that, “in this moment, we are in the process of composing an album. We have seven songs … and we’ll work on the rest of them next year in March.” Read more of what McCready has to say, here. Pearl Jam are also slated to rock a European tour next summer. The footing kicks off June 20 at the Manchester Evening News Arena and runs through July 10 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Los Angeles punk group X will opens on most dates. Sounds like 2012 is the year of Pearl Jam! (Photo: Pearl Jam via Facebook.)
