Record Store Day 2014’s official book is ‘Dust & Grooves: Adventures in Record Collecting’

Record Store Day is coming up on April 19. It’s a day dedicated to celebrating the locally-owned, brick-and-mortar record store with exclusive vinyl, CD and cassette releases available only at your local record shop.

The crew behind Record Store Day has named the new book from Eilon Paz, “Dust & Grooves: Adventures in Record Collecting,” is the Official Book of Record Store Day 2014. As the story goes, what started as a simple, fun free-time project for photographer Paz turned into something more: a book that collects photos and interviews from vinyl collectors around the world, from New York City to London to Japan.

The book promises “an up-close and personal look at a variety of well-known vinyl champions, and a glimpse at the collections of both world-renowned and lesser-known DJs, producers, record dealers and everyday vinyl enthusiasts,” according to a release.

“Dust & Grooves: Adventures in Record Collecting” features 416 pages of photography, a foreword by the Rza, introduction by Jeff “Chairman” Mao and interviews with Gilles Peterson, Four-Tet, the Gaslamp Killer and others.

While the official release date for “Dust & Grooves: Adventures in Record Collecting” is May 20, the read will be available at select U.S. record shops on Record Store Day, April 19.
