Corey Taylor is following up his debut solo album with a new EP, “CMFB…Sides,” features covers and acoustic songs
Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor has an upcoming EP packed with acoustic songs and covers. This bring to mind the time Stone Sour dropped two cover sets, right? The nine-song EP, called “CMFB…Sides,” will hit stores on Feb. 25. The EP’s first single, “On the Dark Side,” is available now and can be streamed below.
“CMFB…Sides” marks Taylor’s follow-up to his 2020 debut solo album, “CMFT.” The upcoming set features acoustic renditions of two songs from that release, “Halfway Down” and “Kansas.” Most of the EP is packed with cover songs, including unique versions of Metallica’s “Holier Than Thou,” Dead Boys’ “All This and More” and Kiss’ “Got to Choose.”
The EP’s debut single, “On the Dark Side,” was originally written and recorded by John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band. One of the songs on the set, Taylor’s take on “Holier Than Thou,” isn’t new, as it appeared on “The Metallica Blacklist.” A live mash-up of “Home” / “Zzyxz Rd” off Taylor’s 2020 “Forum or Against Em” livestream concert is also on the EP and will stream on YouTube starting Monday (Feb. 14).
In other news, Taylor recently announced two legs for their 2022 “Knotfest Roadshow” tour this spring. Taylor has also been teasing a new album with Slipknot and has promised it will arrive this year.
Listen to Corey Taylor’s covers of John Cafferty’s “On the Dark Side” and Metallica’s “Holier Than Thou” below. For more information and to pre-order the EP, go here.
