Corey Taylor Cancels Tour Due to Health Issues
The New Year just started, and we already have news of a major tour being called off. Slipknot and Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor is putting a nix to his North American solo tour. Taylor announced the news on social media Friday (Jan. 5). So, why is Corey Taylor canceling his tour? He says that he needs to take a break to take care of his health. That’s a good reason.
Taylor was scheduled to hit the road in February with openers Des Rocs and Jigsaw Youth. He was touring in support of his latest solo album, “CMF2,” which dropped last year.
In the statement shared on social media, Taylor said, “It is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of my upcoming north American tour. For the past several months, my mental and physical health have been breaking down, and I reached a place that was unhealthy for my family and I.” He added that he knows “this decision will come as a shock to some and may be regarded as unpopular by others — but after taking a hard look at where I am and where I was going, I need to pull myself back and be home with my family for the time being.”
Fans who purchased tickets at VIP packages for the upcoming tour well get a full refund, according to Taylor.
“I send my love to the fans, my band, my family & friends, and everyone who’s helped me get here thus far,” he added. “I promise I’m doing everything I can to be as healthy as I can be. Until then, my apologies to everyone we would have seen on the tour and hopefully we’ll see you again down the line.”
Taylor announced the solo tour in early December 2023.
“The first U.S. tour was such a massive success that we had to raise the stakes on this next leg. We’re so stoked to be going out with Des Rocs and Jigsaw Youth, and ready to turn s*** up a f***ing notch. Get ready for a good f***ing time,” he said in a statement at the time.
No word yet on Taylor’s undisclosed health issues. But, we wish him a speedy recovery and many healthy years ahead. In addition to the solo tour dates, Taylor has a run with Slipknot this year. The band’s 25th anniversary tour will kick off in December in the Netherlands. So far, there’s no indication that these tour dates will be pulled, and December is obviously a long ways away, so the expectation is that these dates will be permanent. We’ll keep you posted. For now, I’m just glad to see that Taylor is taking care of his health and not giving into pressure to tour when he’s not feeling up to it. We can learn from the mistakes of some other musicians who have kept going when they needed a break.
